Sacramento -- Books and Bounty are at Colonial Library since the Junior League of Sacramento  planted its first Read  & Feed Teaching & Demonstration Garden this past spring.  And the best is yet to come!

The Harvest Festival is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. and it's FREE.  (We like FREE.}

Kristen Krueger, Vice President - Community Programs, says this event will harvest the bounty from the new Colonial Library Garden plus will have games and other family events.

She says, "The Junior League of Sacramento builds better communities because trained volunteers develop women into community and civic leaders."

"We operate through sponsorships, fundraisers and donations," Kristen points out, "to co-found innovative programs that have become integral and lasting components of our community."

Yes, indeed.  A sampling of programs sponsored by the Junior League of Sacramento are Fairytale Town, the Sacramento Children's Museum, Sacramento Crisis Nursery and Children's Receiving Home.

Visit www.jlsac.org to view more information about donating time or, hopefully, money to keep these programs funded.
