News10 My Neighborhood ran a week-long sweepstakes contest last week. 

We asked our vusers to submit their definition of HOOPLA, and when they did, their names were automatically submitted into a random drawing.  Then, four lucky winners would receive four passes each to Golfland SunSplash.

This dictionary quiz sweepstakes contest was inspired as part of News10's Reading Connects campaign which is all about connecting with our community to help improve the literacy rate.

Well, we received over 90 responses, and some people were thoughtful enough to email us a sentence with the word HOOPA in it.  Here are some examples:

High School Baseballers Don Pink to Fight Breast Cancer

PINK!   There’s no pink in baseball!....

Well actually there is…and quite a bit…at the 4th Annual Albie Swingin’ For Life Baseball Match-Ups which take place at Sacramento City College on April 28, 2012.

First Game at 10am. (Gates open at 9am)

“Pink-think” comes into play because all the players and umpires will be sporting pink…and when they round the bases, the runners will be tagging…you guessed it…pink bases.

This line-up of baseball games, held to raise money for Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation, pits some of the area’s best high school teams in a four game program.

Game 1 - 10am - Franklin vs. Antelope

Game 2 - 1pm - Roseville vs. Oak Ridge

Game 3 - 4pm - Elk Grove vs. Pioneer

Game 4 – 7pm - Christian Brothers vs.

ARDEN - Sacramento’s storied Del Paso Country Club will play host to the 2015 U.S. Senior Open Championship June 22-28, 2015, the United States Golf Association announced today.

With a list of past champions that includes such legends as Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus and Hale Irwin, the U.S. Senior Open is considered the world’s premier championship in men’s senior (ages 50 and over) golf.

“The USGA is pleased to renew its friendship with Del Paso Country Club and the community of Sacramento,” said USGA vice president Thomas J. O’Toole Jr. “Del Paso and Sacramento have embraced the spirit of this national championship and will be great partners with the USGA in producing what we are confident will be a successful championship and community event.”

A recent economic impact study done on the championship estimates that the U.S.
