Arden Hills Successful Swim Program Makes a Big Splash at Prestigious Meets This Winter

The highly acclaimed Arden Hills Swim program has enjoyed a very busy and successful winter season with talented young athletes traveling to and competing in prestigious swim meets throughout the country.  A number of hard-working young swimmers from Arden Hills accomplished many first place finishes, achieved numerous best time results and many qualified for future competitions.  A few winter swim highlights include the following:

65th Annual Husky Invitational -- Federal Way, Washington 
Twenty-one swimmers from Arden Hills traveled to Washington to compete in this prestigious tournament that included more than 1,000 swimmers from clubs and universities around the West Coast.  Arden Hills won the girls team championship and came in fourth overall. The 21 swimmers combined for 93 personal best times, one new Junior National bonus cut, ten new NCSA Junior National cuts and ten new California/Nevada Sectional cuts.

JMG Tennis Player from Arden Hills Named to USA Davis Cup Team

Collin Altamirano, a talented 18-year old tennis player at JMG Tennis Academy at Arden Hills in Sacramento, has been selected for the USA Davis Cup Team and will soon compete in the world’s largest annual international team competition in the sport.  The USA team will first compete in the 2014 Davis Cup on January 31 through February 2, 2014, at Petco Park in San Diego against Great Britain. Trained by JMG Academy Director Joseph Morris Gilbert, Altamirano gained a coveted spot in tennis history in 2013 after earning a Wild Card to play in the Men’s US Open.

Seven Arden Hills Swim Athletes Recently Signed Letters of Intent to Prestigious Colleges

Seven high school seniors -- all of whom are talented swimmers who train at Arden Hills -- recently gathered at the wellness resort where, surrounded by supportive friends and families, they made their final decisions and signed letters of intent to accept college scholarships for 2014.

The Arden Hills swim athletes who recently signed letters of intent include the following:

- Alexis Martinez, St. Francis High School -- Seattle University
- Brittany Oxley, Vista Del Lago High School -- University of South Carolina
- Savannah Sellers, Home Schooled -- University of California, Davis
- Matt Spallas, Pleasant Grove High School -- Texas Christian University
- Jake Struckmeyer, Del Campo High School -- University of the Pacific
- Taylor Yamahata, Rio Americano High School -- Dartmouth College
