6th & 7th Grade Program Information:

This program is designed to encourage teens to develop both physically and socially.  Participants will sharpen their skills while learning the importance of sportsmanship and fair play.  Athletes will practice after school at Lichen, Kingswood, Sylvan, Woodside, Pioneer, Antelope Crossing and Wilson C. Riles.  League games will be held at La Sierra Community Center.

8th Grade Program Information:

Celebrate New Years walking with The Sacramento Walking Sticks

The American Volkssport Association (AVA) is an educational nonprofit founded in 1976. AVA’s mission is to promote fun, fitness and friendships. Volkssporting is a noncompetitive fitness and recreational program that started in Germany. Volkssporting consists of walking, hiking, swimming and biking. 

There are around 300 clubs that host over 3,000 Volkssporting events each year in the United States. The Sacramento Walking Sticks is a nonprofit founded in 1984, and the nation’s largest AVA affiliated walking club. Sacramento Walking Sticks is run 100% by volunteers.

On November 28, 2012, the California Natural Resources Agency awarded the City of Sacramento a $1.5 million River Parkways grant for Sutter’s Landing Park to restore habitat and improve river access from Midtown to the American River Parkway.  The American River Parkway is one of the most important contiguous habitat and recreation open spaces in the region and state, attracting millions of visitors annually.
