Reading Connects

News10's Reading Connect seeking literacy volunteer opportunities

News10 is proud to provide you with our Reading Connects program which is our campaign to promote literacy in our community. But we are even more excited that you...our viewers...are just as passionate about the cause!

If you know of a literacy volunteer opportunity, we want to hear about it.

Please email the information to writer@news10.net

We'll post it on News10 My Neighborhood, so potential volunteers can learn about it and contact you.

The more we all share, the more opportunities we'll have for you...and the greater the impact we'll make in our communities.

10 Books to Read Launch Party

News10, The Sacramento Public Library, and ScholarShare have joined forces to bring you "10 Books to Read," a new local program encouraging parents, grandparents and caregivers to read with their children.

Every month, Sacramento Public Library librarians will select books based on their accessibility, appeal, and readability.  These selections will be listed on the "10 Books to Read" page at saclibrary.org, making it easy to find new books that spark the imagination and generate a love of reading.  From classic family favorites to award winning titles, the lists have something to captivate any child's imagination.

This contest was part of News10's Reading Connects campaign, which is our effort at improving the literacy rate in our area.
