Sacramento, Modesto businesses in top 100 of delinquent taxpayers | News

SACRAMENTO, CA - As required by law, the California Board of Equalization posted its biggest delinquent taxpayers Friday and in the top 100 are six area companies and individuals.

At number 13 is Lyons of California, a restaurant company, in Sacramento. The company owes California $4,155,390 in back sales and use taxes. In January 2010, the state levied the first lien on the company.

Also in the top 100:

• The Auto Store of Merced Inc. (in Modesto) owes $2,332,879
• Vacaville Ford Mercury Inc. owes $1,757,935
• Abolghassem Alizadeh (in Granite Bay) owes $1,704,775
• M.T. Automotive Group, Inc. (in Modesto) owes $1,648,090
• Topline Building Products Inc. (in Modesto) owes $1,538,915

Since BOE began publicizing those most in arrears over taxes, it says it has received a total of $5.3 million from 40 qualifying taxpayers who came forward to pay their debts.
