SACRAMENTO, CA - A red oak was planted Friday in midtown Sacramento to "replace" an historic camphor tree many knew and fondly remembered.

The imposing camphor tree stood at the corned or 18th Street and Capitol Avenue since 1886. However, a fungal disease was slowly killing it and the city removed it last August.
