Great Hang Up: Celebrating the holidays safe and sober
News

GREAT HANG UP: The crack down on drunk and distracted driving this holiday is underway and the California Office of Traffic Safety urges planning ahead to get there safely.

The CA OTS is pushing the "RUOK" campaign to remind drivers if someone asks if you are okay to drive, the answer is probably no. Law enforcement says a cab ride is far cheaper then a DUI ticket. Chris Murphy with OTS says 2000 DUI checkpoints will be set up through January 1st.

The key is planning ahead for safety to try and avoid any distractions and dangers while driving. There is a big RUOK social media push to connect with younger drivers and you can win prizes like a free year of taxi rides by posting some pictures on instagram and by following the OTS twitter account for details.

Many restaurants are partnering with the safety message with an official list of mocktails. This year once again OTS has the "DD Drink Mixology List" you can also  try at home. One includes the Five-Spice Pear Buck with Centro Concina Mexicana and will be avaialble for the next year.
