Dickinson Hosting Food Literacy Fair September 22

Dickinson is hosting a free food literacy fair on September 22nd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oak Park Farmer’s Market in Sacramento. The event, partnered with the California Food Literacy Center, the Oak Park Farmers Market, and NeighborWorks Sacramento, will feature cooking demonstrations, physical activities and games, local chefs, and informational booths on health and nutrition. Assemblymember Roger Dickinson’s (D-Sacramento) Assembly Concurrent Resolution 161, which establishes every September in California as Food Literacy Awareness Month, was approved by the Senate. The resolution has previously been approved by the Assembly and is now enrolled.

“Educating the public, especially children, about food literacy is important because it has the ability to address the growing obesity epidemic,” said Assemblymember Dickinson.

Begin your yoga practice

Yoga is a relaxing way to strengthen your body, relax your mind, and energize your day. I have practiced yoga for a few years now but my passion lies in Bikram yoga, which I discovered this year. Bikram is a 90 minute practice that involves two breathing exercises and a sequence of 26 postures. During the last seven months or so I have committed myself to Bikram yoga at Yoga Loka  studio in Sacramento. And I love it! From dedicating a few hours a week to focus on number one, me, I feel strong, confident and healthy!
