Railroad Museum Offers Monthly “Diesel Days” Beginning this Weekend!

California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum are proud to offer special “Diesel Days” one weekend each month – April through September -- by operating two visually-exciting and gracefully-styled diesel locomotives as part of the popular weekend excursion train rides on the Museum’s Sacramento Southern Railroad.  These brightly painted diesels -- Western Pacific No. 913 and Southern Pacific “Daylight” No. 6051 -- will pull the excursion trains both Saturday and Sunday on the following weekends:  April 19-20, May 17-18, June 14-15 (Father’s Day Weekend), July 19-20, August 23-24 and September 20-21, 2014.  These eye-catching and classic streamlined locomotives are representative of the so-called “First Generation” of diesel-electric locomotives which replaced steam engines all across America during the 1940s and 1950s.

2014 Weekly Challenge #12: Declutter and get ready to SWAP!

This week’s challenge is to de-clutter your closets!

The Mama Bootcamp Clothing Swap is coming soon - Sunday May 4, 2014 to be exact!  Clear your closet and bring clothing to your  Bootcamp Coach.  All the Mamas will be given an opportunity to "shop" through the donated items on May 4 and take what they need to fit their healthier bodies.  You don't need to donate to shop, but the more donations we have, the more variety and opportunity there will be.

Old City Cemetery Tour- Sacramento History Tour For Kids

Old City Cemetery Tour- Sacramento History Tour For Kids

Join us for a Sacramento History Tour for Kids in the Old City Cemetery on April 19th at 10:00 am.  The tales of pioneers, trappers, railroad men, society women, heroes and villains come to life as we recount the stories of a bygone era and the people who lived it, here in Sacramento.  Come see why sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction. This tour is designed specifically designed for kids fourth grade and up.

The cemetery is located at 1000 Broadway, Sacramento. Free parking is available in the lot at 10th & Broadway, across the street from the 10th Street entrance. Tours are free; however, donations are appreciated and benefit cemetery preservation. For more information, call 916-448-0811 or 916-264-7839.
