Sacramento man wanted in Vallejo assault caught | Crime

VALLEJO, CA - Vallejo police say they have a Sacramento gang member in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a 53-year-old woman last September.

Lt. Ken Weaver said Oakland police arrested Maurice Vernon, 21, last Friday on a $2 million warrant. Vernon was transported to Solano County Jail Monday.

Vernon is suspected in the woman's attack, robbery and carjacking in September, in the beating of a 60-year-old homeless woman in December and another robbery last April, Weaver said.

Detectives previously arrested Donshay Nichols in connection to the assault. Nichols is awaiting trial.
