SACRAMENTO, CA - A suspect surrendered to police after a nearly 2-hour standoff in East Sacramento Wednesday.

Sacramento police Officer Doug Morse said an outside agency was pursuing the suspect when the car crashed near 63rd Street and 2nd Avenue. The suspect then ran from the scene of the crash and into a nearby home.

Various agencies responded to the area to help; SWAT was also called to the scene.

A woman in her 30s was in the home when the suspect ran inside. Sacramento police said around 2:35 p.m. that the woman was safe after she walked out on her own. Morse said the suspect and the woman did not know each other.

The suspect talked with police, and then around 3:20 p.m. surrendered. He was taken into custody by Sacramento police.
