Woman killed in hit-and-run, then body hit by 2 others | Crime
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - A woman was found dead in the road after a hit-and-run crash Monday evening, California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened on the southbound Sunrise Boulevard on-ramp to westbound US-50 around 5:10 p.m., CHP Sgt. Evan Williams said.
The 65-year-old woman was seen on surveillance video leaving the Light Rail station at Folsom/Sunrise about 15 minutes before the initial crash. Williams said investigators are looking for the initial vehicle that hit the woman and fled.
A motorcyclist riding on the road hit the woman's body and then was ejected from the bike suffering minor injuries; a second vehicle also hit the woman's body and stopped.
Williams said investigators are not looking at the motorcyclist or the driver of the second vehicle as suspects because the body was already in the road and they stopped after the crash.
CHP classified the woman's death as a hit-and-run, but have not found evidence of the first vehicle in initial impact at the scene, Williams said.
The coroner's office will conduct an autopsy and will ID the victim.
Anyone with information is urged to call the CHP's east Sacramento office at 916-464-1450.
