East Sacramento serial burglar sentenced | Crime
SACRAMENTO, CA - A burglar who targeted east Sacramento and American River neighborhoods earlier this year is headed to prison for five years and eight months.
Shawn Dulcini was sentenced in Sacramento Superior Court on Monday after pleading no contest to first degree residential burglary, attempted second degree burglary of an unoccupied home, receipt of a stolen vehicle and possession of ammunition by a felon, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.
Dulcini was charged with stealing medical equipment from the garage of a home of a doctor while the victim and his wife slept on Feb. 15 and 16. A fingerprint left on the victim's car matched Dulcini's prints, prosecutors found.
An attempted burglary of an unoccupied home between June 13 and 14 was traced to Dulcini by a fingerprint left on a window.
The theft and destruction of family heirlooms as well as a stolen car from a home between July 5 and 17 came back to Dulcini when he was seen working on the stolen car in his driveway, according to court records. Investigators searched Dulcini's home and found the stolen heirlooms as well as ammunition Dulcini was prohibited from having due to his status as a felon.
