Cheer Sacramento donates $1,500 to Sacramento LGBT Community Center

Cheer Sacramento, Sacramento’s original “Charitable Cheerleaders,” has donated $1,500 to the Sacramento LGBT Community Center (1927 L Street, Sacramento).

Cheer Sacramento has been actively involved in the Sacramento community since 1999.  Cheer Sacramento performs and fundraises at various community events, including Sacramento Pride, the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” and the California International Marathon.  The team also provides scholarships to both high school and college cheerleaders.  Most recently, the team helped raise over $1500 for the Mustard Seed School. The team has even been in a Coca-Cola commercial as well as this years America’s Got Talent Season 10 commercial.  Click here for more information about Cheer Sacramento.

Employees, physicians and volunteers recognized for their service before Memorial Day holiday

 

SACRAMENTO, May 21, 2015 –Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Medical Center held a special ceremony today honoring the memories of all who have died on behalf of our country, and also recognized employees, physicians and volunteers who are active duty personnel or military veterans.

Dozens of military honorees and family members were presented with commemorative “challenge coins” during a noontime ceremony recognizing their service to our country.

The ceremony leading into the Memorial Day weekend provided Kaiser Permanente employees, physicians and volunteers with an opportunity to remember those who have lost their lives serving our country.

The keynote speaker was Charlene Taylor, the hospital’s former chief operating officer who now is chair of the California Veterans Board.

Railroad Museum Gets in the Jazzy Spirit Plus Offers Free Admission to Music Festival Badge Holders

Coinciding with the 42nd Annual Sacramento Music Festival happening over Memorial Day weekend in Old Sacramento, California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum will celebrate the holiday by offering jazz music inside the Railroad Museum and popular train rides behind a vintage steam locomotive.  In addition, festival badge holders will receive complimentary admission to the Railroad Museum given it is an official musical venue for the special event.

Inside the Museum, visitors will be treated to entertaining jazz musicians in the Roundhouse throughout the holiday weekend, May 23-25, 2015.  And, guests who choose to take a lovely six-mile, 45-minute round trip excursion train ride along the levees of the Sacramento River will also be entertained on board by talented banjo performers from the Sacramento Banjo Band.

It's our way of honoring those that serve our community, while letting our viewers learn about potential job opportunities.

This coming Friday, May 15, News10 Anchor Keba Arnold and Reporter Tim Daly will be going to the Stockton Police Department and they won't be alone. North Border Taco food truck will be there, too, and will be serving up a delicious breakfast.
