Whether you want to open your own business, work in a corporate environment or strategically manage a company's personal finances, participation in this Drexel University Sacramento workshop – Tuesday, May 7 (5-6 p.m.) – will give you a head start in becoming a successful, 21st century citizen and give you an edge on the competition.

Join John Carvana, Drexel University Sacramento's Manager of Career Services, in an hour-long interactive session that will help you identify the best career pathway in business to suit your personal interests and talents.

The workshop is free and open to the public and Drexel students, alumni and faculty.

$125,000 contest looking for retail business dreamers

Will you be Downtown Sacramento’s next success story?

Calling all passion-filled go getters with big ideas, people who are sparked by opportunity and possibility, we want you to join us Downtown.

Applicants interested in starting a new retail business in Downtown Sacramento can submit their business concept for consideration. The winner will receive an awards package worth approximately $125,000 which includes rent-free up to one year in a Downtown location, startup capital, and business support services.

The application process will run until May 24th and is open to entrepreneurs with a retail oriented business idea, current retailers who want to open a new concept, and those who want to expand or relocate from outside of Sacramento.

The Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy, a nonprofit, is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs replicate themselves. Local entrepreneurs and business leaders commit their time to train and mentor students. People of all ages and from all walks are welcome to apply for our program.

Keynote Speaker Michael Marks, a founding partner of Riverwood Capital, is an entrepreneur with a long track record of successful leadership. Prior to establishing Riverwood, a private equitey firm focused on technology companies, hew was a partner and senior advisor at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

Ticket prices: Individual: $50. Alumni: $25.

Kross Kountry-4-Kids A Journey-4-Justice Finishes April 14th

A BBQ celebration Sunday hosted by Folsom Harley-Davidson marks the conclusion of a two week cross country and back ride for Kross Kountry-4-Kids A Journey-4-Justice.  The Army Of Angels,the International Child Abuse Prevention Task Force, Folsom HOG and dozens of other groups will be in attendance at the event scheduled from Noon until 3:00 P.M.  The runs accomplishments, reviewing the current call to action over the next year to better protect children and making some major announcements about Kross Kountry-4-Kids 2014. will be covered.
