Sacramento police accuse woman of elaborate con

SACRAMENTO, CA - A 68-year-old woman who detectives said pretended to be a doctor and with another fake doctor, created a non-profit to help the underprivileged, is facing fraud charges.

The Sacramento Police Department says it launched its investigation into Victoria Roldan-Cajina in 2009 when a victim reported the suspect was writing checks with insufficient funds.

Roldan-Cajina is accused of billing herself as Dr.Victoria Roldan-Cajina, a psychiatrist. She is alleged to have joined with another fictitious medical professional, a Dr. Helmuth Hollstiener, a neurosurgeon. The two established the non-profit Sacramento Bilingual and Training Agency to provide educational, medical, and counseling services to the underprivileged.

High school and college students will be performing various Japanese songs to raise money for the tsunami disaster in Japan

Admission: $5
Kids under 10: Free

100 percent of the proceeds will be going towards the Japanese Red Cross.

Suspects caught trying to steal SMUD copper wire

SACRAMENTO, CA -- If you're going to attempt to steal copper wire, you might as well go big.  Two men tried to steal large rolls of copper wire from SMUD.

The Sacramento Police Department received a call from SMUD security shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.  Security officers had detained one person inside their compound.  A second suspect was detained off the SMUD property near Folsom Boulevard and 59th Street.

The men had a couple large rolls of copper wire, amounting to about 50 pounds, in their possession.  Copper has become a popular item for thieves who sell the it as scrap metal.  

Police took over the citizens arrest from SMUD security officers.

2 men arrested after bringing sons along for Sacramento robbery

SACRAMENTO, CA. - Sacramento police arrested two robbery suspects at Better Trade Market on 12th Avenue and 40th Street Saturday around 12:30 p.m. after their sons were found in the getaway car.

Carlos Castenada, 27, and Jamone Paive, 25, were arrested after the clerk called 911, said Sgt. Norm Leong.

Paive struggled with the store clerk before hitting him in the head with a gun, which was later found to be unloaded.

Castenada took a 12-pack of beer and ran to the getaway vehicle. Police arrested him as they arrived at the scene. Paive was arrested shortly after, Leong said.

Police found Castenada's 2-year-old son and Paive's 6-year-old son in the getaway car.

The getaway vehicle also matched the description of a car which was reported for shooting rounds into the air near I-5 earlier in the day, Leong said.

Levee patrols resume Saturday as rainy weather continues

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA. - Levee patrols continued from Friday as water levels increased with more rain Saturday.

Patrols are on the lookout for signs of erosion, boils or seepage at levees. They also look for debris or toppled down trees floating down river.

The Sacramento Reclamation District said it is not concerned about the levees along the Sacramento River.

American River Flood Control District also said they are not concerned about levees breaking along the American River.

Several roads in eastern Sacramento County have been flooded, including Kiefer Boulevard and Scott Road.
