Missing disabled woman found OK

SACRAMENTO, CA - A 46-year-old missing woman who suffers from a developmental disablity, was located unharmed Friday morning, according to police.

Carole Slaughter, 46, was found in the 3200 block of Del Paso Boulevard after a security guard in the area called police because Slaughter wouldn't leave the premises, said Sacramento Police spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong.

Slaughter was reported missing around 9 a.m. Thursday after she was last seen leaving her home on foot, in the area of Grand Avenue and Marysville Boulevard.

Leong said Slaughter has a disability, limiting her mental capacity to that of a 3-year-old.

Pet of the Week- Stanley!

Pet of the Week- Stanley!

  Meet Stanley!

This eight-year-old Yorkshire Terrier mix is quite the character! He is very sweet and chatty- loves to tell you about his day!  A somewhat active adult home will be best for Stanley (he is not a fan of little kids!). He is OK with cats and tends to ignore other dogs, so he'd be fine as "an only child." He has a long silky coat, but he's used to being combed, so he won't require more than a couple of minutes a day to stay well groomed. In fact, Stanley has some quirky hobbies too- he enjoys running in the sprinklers and taking baths! At the age of 8, Stanley qualifies for our "Seniors for Seniors" program: if his adopter is over 60, we'll waive the adoption fee!

In addition to providing the safest pool environment possible such as constant adult supervision, fences, covers, and alarms, ISR suggests a program of swimming self-rescue lessons as additional prevention to protect children from accidental drownings.  Children as young as 7 months old learn to hold their breath under water, roll onto their backs and float unassisted.  Older children also learn to swim with their head down, roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe and roll over again to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool to crawl out.

These skills are taught by certified instructors to assure that a day
